Sea container shortage dominates RCP market in the UK in November

In November, price cuts for ordinary RCP grades in the UK have been limited despite substantial sea container rates increases.

Sea containers have been very hard to get hold of in the UK in November, and rates have gone up considerably as a result.

A hike in container rates usually paves the way for a reduction in export prices for mixed paper (1.02) and old corrugated containers (1.05) on an ex works basis. However, sources said that these price cuts have been limited to date. Market experts believe that interest from buyers is still strong and they want to safeguard volumes as soon as more containers become available.
