05 Nov 2019 −

After concluding the employee consultation process, UPM will permanently discontinue SC paper production at its Rauma mill in Finland on 6 November.

With this measure, UPM reduces its SC paper capacity by 265,000 tpy. At the same time, 179 employees will be made redundant. The production on the remaining two LWC machines with a total capacity of 675,000 tpy in Rauma will continue as before.

The company announced plans to permanently stop production at the mill in early September and also said it wanted to sell its newsprint mill in Chapelle Darbley in France.
