Magazine prices tumble in the wake of lower overall demand. Newsprint contracts are mostly featuring unchanged prices compared to December.
Magazine paper manufacturers doing business on the French market had to cope with lower prices for deliveries as of January. LWC producers were particularly hit, while the drop was less pronounced in the case of SC paper.
The overall course of price movement is clear and reflects the relationship between supply and demand, according to EUWID sources. Capacity management of manufacturers is lagging far behind consumption, market insiders note, because demand in the publication sector is still receding.
Paper producers' demand for a price hike for newsprint in France has only met with sporadic success. In most cases, contract prices are unchanged and in rare cases show small reductions.
