Mayr-Melnhof stops cartonboard deliveries to Russia

MM provides support for the group's employees in Ukraine donates to charities.

Austria's Mayr-Melnhof (MM) group, one of the leading cartonboard and folding carton producers in Europe's, supplies no more cartonboard to Russia. According to a short statement on 9 March, MM has stopped all cartonboard deliveries to the country.

The group also announced a "comprehensive support program, financially and in kind, for its employees in the Ukraine and their families." and donated money to charities for humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

MM group did not explain its decision to suspend cartonboard shipments to Russia nor did it provide information on the decision's potential impacts on the group's packaging operations in the country.

According to Mayr-Melnhof Packaging's website, MMP site in Villozi village south of St.Petersburg consists of MM Polygrafoformlenie Packaging and MM Polygrafoformlenie Rotogravure, and is the largest producer of folding cartons in the region as well as the market leader in the Russian Federation. The plants mainly supply the food, personal care and cigarette packaging markets.
