Price slump for graphic papers in Italy continues

Fine paper producers continue to report weak sales volumes in Italy. Especially in the uncoated segment, sellers are fighting for contracts.

Once again, buyers had the upper hand on the Italian market for woodfree uncoated paper in May. As in the previous months, they benefited from ample supplies and fierce competition between suppliers. The intense competition on the Italian market is attributed to the presence not only of European producers, but also of Asian suppliers.

As a result, sellers are increasingly willing to lower prices in order to secure a new contract. In this environment, several EUWID respondents from both sides of the market reported that prices in May had declined
